NDRT Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: How do I register for the Nelson Denny?
A1: Fill out the attached form and submit, by clicking here.

Be present 15-20 minutes prior to testing time.

You must pre-register at least one week prior to testing date.

Q2: What should I bring with me to the testing site?
A2: Sharpened #2 pencils and a valid photo I.D.
 
Q3: How do I prepare for the NDRT? Are there any practice tests?
A3: None through Connors, but you can look on the web.

 

Q4:  How many points do I need to pass the NDRT?
A4: This is not a pass/fail test.

In order for potential nursing students to be competitive,

they are encouraged to earn all the points possible.

The point scale is outlined on the Nursing Department web page. 

The NDRT points awarded are as follows:

 14 = 1, 15 = 2, 16 = 3, 17=4, 18 = 5.

 

Q5: What if I don't get the number of points I need?
A5: You may retake the Nelson Denny, however; you must obtain remediation AND previous scores will NOT be valid. Only the most recent scores will be used in determining points toward admission to the nursing program.
Remediation Options: 1) Short Term Intensive Program
2) College Reading class
3) Arranged Classes

4) Completion of a semester of college classes: provide an unofficial transcript.

Q6: When do I see my results?
A6: Results will be given immediately following the test.
Results can also be picked up in the nursing department or mailed to the individual.

Deadline for the spring application period is February 15.

Deadline for the fall application period is October 1.
